To thrive in the Caribbean, pirates must interact with a variety of businessmen and women who supply them with the wares and services they need, and to pay the pirates for services rendered (quests) or for objects obtained (plunder).

Merchants can be found on all the main islands in towns, though not every town has each kind of merchant.

Some merchants, like tailors carry different varieties of the same type of item.
