June 14th - Happy Father's Day Weekend

There's still time this weekend to celebrate dad by helping Captain Jack Sparrow reach his own missing father. Complete the Father's Day Quest, and get started on yer three hours of Double Reputation reward!

June 11th - Hearty Congrats to the Feats of Strength Winners!

Competition was fierce, and - we're happy to report - also friendly, with many racers wishing each other good luck, fair winds, and congratulations on their prizes. It does a salty ol' sea dog's heart good to hear, it does!
During thirty-six races over three days, Pirates fought, figured, and flexed their way to finish lines all over the islands. We thank all competitors for taking their best shot, and making this Event a great time for all!

Thanks go out to all supportive friends and Guildmates as well, who turned out to cheer on their mates! Whether finishing first second, third, or not making it to the finish line at all, all racers do the Marceline GMs proud by giving it yer all.

June 7th - Quest for Captain Teague

Starting this Saturday, Captain Jack Sparrow again seeks yer help finding his elusive father, Captain Teague. To lend a helping hand, visit Jack in the Rowdy Rooster Tavern on Port Royal and begin the Father’s Day Quest.
ALL Pirates may take this Quest, for the reward of gold and Double Reputation points for three hours!

WORDS OF CAUTION, MATES: As in all dealings with Jack Sparrow and his slippery father, the end to this Quest can be somewhat… tricky.

Quest is complete! Your three hours of Double Reputation reward begin immediately thereafter, as shown by this icon over your Pirate:

The clock stops ticking on your Double Reputation time when you log out of the Caribbean.

June 3rd - Feats of Strength 2013 Details

The Feats of Strength Competition begins tomorrow!
The event runs over three days:  Tuesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 6.

Pirates who are scheduled to compete: make sure you double-check your race day, time, and Ocean (server) in last week's schedule postings here on the Blog.

Here are the event details for our competitors:

Challenge #1 - Starting Line:

Competitors ALL meet on Devil's Anvil on their scheduled day and on their scheduled Ocean at their designated start time.
*All times posted in the schedules are Pacific Time (Los Angeles).

    (Example: Mermaid Minnie, 26, Typhoon Guild –  JUNE 5,  4:30pm,  BEQUERMO)

Officially listed competitors ONLY should check in with the Marceline Guild GM that is located on Devil's Anvil beach to start your race. You can identify them by the icon above their heads:

The GM will then whisper a pass phrase AND location to only the competitors. Be prepared to memorize or write both down - and hang on, mate! If you leave before the GM says "GO", you will be disqualified.

The GM will then put you on yer mark, get you set, and when the GM says "GO" the race is officially on!

Challenge #2 - The Race:

Do your best to get to the location the GM told you. Swift Foot potions, sailing, and teleporting are all fair game!

When you get to the correct location, type your pass phrase in the chat window. Pretty much YELL IT OUT!

An invisible Ghost GM will be at the correct location and will hear your cries! If you are at the right spot and have spoken the correct pass phrase, the Ghost GM will whisper to you a riddle. Mark well the GM's words, mate - this riddle contains clues to the final leg of the race:  the Finish Line!

Challenge #3 - The Finish Line:

The home-stretch! Decipher the riddle given to you and make your way to that final location using the riddle as your clue.
Once you are standing on the exact spot from the clue, yell out your pass phrase again AND use the emote /flex in front of the Marceline GM at the Finish Line. Flexing is your finishing move.

The GM will acknowledge the First, Second and Third place winners of the race at the Finish Line.

GMs will be monitoring all areas of the course. Some GMs may be visible while others may not be, but they will be watching all competitors closely and checking for any sign of cheating. Any cheating or disrupting other racers will disqualify you.

All Pirates are welcome to watch and support friends and Guild mates. It's possible GMs may replace no-shows with any volunteers selected from the crowd at hand. Please keep your weapons stowed during the event. Pirates that harass competitors or GMs or interfere with the course in any way will be removed from the game.

May 31st - Barbary Corsair

April 26th - Sink the Most Navy Challenge Winners

Scores of seafaring scoundrels made certain the Navy saw red this past weekend, with much of the Royal fleet now reportin' for duty at Davy Jones' Locker. We've seen a thing or two at sea we have, and tell ye true, these are some truly impressive tallies, mates!

April 17th - Stop the Rising Red on the High Seas

Methinks the Royal Navy feels a bit left out of the action lately. Have ye noticed? Since all the scuttlebutt on Padres del Fuego recently, there's been a keen increase in Navy patrols on the high seas - no doubt seeking new and nefarious means to keep us prosperous Pirates under their imperial thumb.

Last month we saw the green tides clear from our blue seas; now let's rid ourselves of some red as well, savvy?
Starting this Friday, April 19 through the end of Sunday, April 21, we challenge all Pirates to take to the seas and clear as many Navy ships as ye can!

Once the weekend competition is over and we've tallied the results, we’ll award the top 50 Pirates who sank the most Navy ships over the entire three-day challenge:

• All 50 winners will each win an all-new, Legendary sailing item plundered from the Navy command itself: Commodore Norrington's Spyglass

• The top 15 winners who blast the most Navy ships from the water will also receive 2 weeks of complimentary Unlimited Access!

March 29th - The Heart of Padres del Fuego

Tia Dalma's visions confirm the Marceline Guild's fears – years back, when explosions destroyed Padres del Fuego, a hidden cache of El Patron's weapons were consumed by earth and magma. As Jolly Roger raised the slain Spanish buried on Padres into his service, he learned their dark secrets of the weapons' whereabouts. The volcano's constant lava flows finally unearthed these weapons deep in its winding caverns, and Jolly Roger began searching in earnest. But years baking inside the lava surrounded by Padres' unique volcano soul element has infused these cutlasses with the fiery power of the volcano's core itself... creating a powerful new Legendary weapon the Heart of Padres del Fuego.

While his invading forces gained ol' Jolly deeper and deeper access into the island, brave Pirates held off his last wave of attacks, and the Marceline Guild reached the legendary cutlasses first! To make certain this devastating weapon does not fall into the wrong hands, Marceline GMs will give Pirates access to a Heart of Padres del Fuego cutlass only through a secret code here:

March 25th - Ocean (Server) Maintenance

We are reducing the total number of Oceans (servers) available not only to optimize overall playability, but also to bring Pirates together in a closer community. Sailing forward, the Oceans available after this change still include the most active servers that historically enjoy the most robust daily population of Pirates. We have also retained a good range of less populated servers for Pirates who prefer a quieter, less-crowded play experience.

March 22nd - The Battle for Padres del Fuego in Peril

Jolly Roger's undead hordes continue marching mercilessly upon Padres del Fuego this month, sometimes staging multiple attacks in a single day. While brave Pirates have repelled many of these invasions, we have lost to Jolly's sheer numbers and infernal Curse more times than not.

Each time Jolly Roger successfully breaches our barricades, his cursed grasp reaches deeper and deeper into the catacombs and lava gorges... and closer to what he so desperately seeks.

"Seeks" but has not yet found, which means we still have a fighting chance.

Band together and turn the tide, mates – defend Padres to the last Pirate, and stop those undead cold!

March 19th - Green Tides Soon Subside

We hope all yer quests and voyages have been as lucky as the green shamrock this past week, for those green tides will soon ebb.

Marceline GM Ben Bowman recently stared down quite a sight, questing in undead-infested Las Pulgas on Padres del Fuego: several of Jolly Roger’s trusted lieutenants holding shadowy council with none other than undead General Darkhart himself.

From what could be understood out of their rotted mouths, Jolly Roger has lately become obsessed with the fiery island.
He’s ordered his undead forces to target Padres del Fuego in full force, marching mercilessly on the island until the object of his obsession has been found.
An undiscovered weapon of power, forgotten by the ill-fated Conquistadors long ago? Or some other deadly secret bubbling deep in the mysterious molten magma?

Mardi Gras rolls into the Caribbean, starting Saturday February 9, with fantastic bursts of light and even brighter holiday garb!

Explosive fireworks mark Mardi Gras' merriment whenever the skies go dark off the coasts of Port Royal, Tortuga and Padres del Fuego.
