Doggerel Dan is the bartender of the Black Dog's Revenge tavern on Bilgewater just inside the Eastern gate. He runs the place with his wife Nell Bilgehayes and their bouncer Yarr the Barbarian working the door outside.
Dan was the proprietor of the Black Dog Inn, the only tavern on Rambleshack before Jolly Roger attacked and they were forced to flee. Luckily, The Keepers of the Code took the refugees in and they have since set up shop here.

Originally, when the pirate flees from jail, Dan and his wife (Nell Bilgehayes) are busy trying to quickly pack and flee from Jolly Roger's attack.
But, they take the time teach the pirate how to use their Sea Chest and Quest Journal (Menu). But, the opening was later changed and Dan and his wife disappeared. The player now goes directly to see Will Turner.
