2018-9-11 tlopo-rc-v1.17.4[]

PSA

  • Whenever we release an update, please know that there is an extreme amount of quality assurance testing that goes into it - sometimes lasting for several months at a time. Unfortunately though, we sometimes do not catch some bugs that make it into a public release. Please have some patience with us as we resolve any issues following an update. We need to make sure that the changes we make to correct the new bugs are accurate. If we do not test them properly, we could accidentally cause even more bugs. Thank you!
    • For reference, invasions were working properly in Summer 2017. We did not release them until Winter 2018 because we had put in an extreme amount of time testing them. However, when we released them on the live servers they failed to function properly - even though we had quality assurance testers going through them 60 hours a week for several months. We unfortunately cannot anticipate every scenario or combination of attributes that will create an issue/crash - but to counteract this, we are very swift to fix the issues as they appear.

Bugfixes

  • Connectors/Tunnels now properly light up with defeat enemy tasks.
  • Enemies and ships now go light up the closest one to you. The light does not switch off them until they die or you go away from them.
  • Fixed a district reset caused by the ray of light fix. Please log in and sail around with the ray of light present, as well as when it's not.
  • The islands at sea now have the light on them if you have a defeat enemy task on the island.

Known Issues

  • When changing tracked quests the ray of light may stop working until moving to a new zone. We will be releasing another update soon to correct this issue.

2018-9-10 tlopo-rc-v1.17.3[]

  • Fixed a bug that caused the Ray of Light to appear incorrectly when tracking quests.
  • Fixed a bug which caused boss enemies to spawn with incorrect levels.
  • Fixed a bug which prevented the Governor's Mansion from taking damage.
  • Fixed a district reset with PVP.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented Jolly Roger spawning inside invasions.

2018-9-9 tlopo-rc-v1.17.2[]

Features

  • Reverse-engineered and implemented Disney's nametags, which have been open-sourced and can be found here: https://github.com/loblao/libotp-nametags
    • This should make the tags much more clear, reduce lag a bit, and fix the issue where clicking on players randomly stops working.
    • This should also fix an issue where NPC Shopkeepers' badges were hidden behind quest indicators.
  • Implemented the "Sure Footed" skill
  • Stop on by the tailors on Padres del Fuego and Port Royal to purchase a new pair of men's "Leather Cuff Boots."

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a bug causing groups of enemies to not spawn with proper levels.
  • Fixed a bug where enemies would sometimes not attack barricades during invasions.
  • Fixed a bug where navigation tools would not apply a rank boost.
  • Fixed a district reset related to invasions.
  • Fixed a district reset related to SvS.
  • Fixed a district reset related to the lookout matchmaker.
  • Fixed a number of client crashes related to weapons.
  • Fixed an old Disney issue where rank 5 and 6 Privateering infamy badges were swapped.

Maintenance

  • Added a new Peddler roster for the 2018-2019 season. You will see it be released slowly over the coming months.
  • Balanced out Jack Sparrow's Blade
    • Decreased "Critical Strike" skill to Rank 3.
    • Decreased "Powerful" skill to Rank 3.
    • Removed Drain Health.
  • Bones will now begin to drop automatically when the Hollowed Woods event begins. It will no longer require an update to the game each time.
  • Localizer grammar/typo fixes.
  • Modified holiday date ranges.
  • Replaced duplicate ship names.
  • Whitelist and Blacklist updates.

On the Horizon

  • We have recently open-sourced a new technology that we're calling "Pypperoni" and can be found here: https://github.com/Pypperoni
    • Pypperoni is a free and open source Python compiler and bytecode preprocessor designed and maintained by the TLOPO team. This compiler will be the successor to TLOPO's current runtime, Nirai. When Pypperoni is released, we will be removing support for 32-bit applications. We will provide more information when we get closer to releasing this update.

Maintenance[]

  • Code cleanup.
  • Localizer grammar/typo fixes.

    • Extra ammo range.
    • Infinite ammo.

  • New colorable hat: Accented EITC Hat. It is available in the secret shop and in loot (as brights).

  • Sailing skills will now properly increase in duration when more skill points are applied.
  • The Seven Seas Repeater Pistol group (six weapons!) can now be found in loot.
  • Per player request, we removed the previously discontinued peddler outfit, Treasure Hunter, from general loot. It is back on the docket as a flash sale set.
  • The Treasure Hunter outfit now has a brand new pair of shorts for men.
    • The old shorts are still available in loot.
    • The previous shorts were able to be found elsewhere in the game. These are exclusive to Peddlers.
  • We've added 75 new prefixes and 75 new suffixes to the ship name chooser!
  • We've entirely rewritten the back-end of the Lookout matchmaker system again to better accommodate for Team PvP queuing and future updates. We hope to have more improvements to the Lookout system in the future!

Bugfixes[]

  • Fixed multiple district resets with ship AI.
  • Fixed multiple district resets with weapon AI.

Maintenance

Bugfixes

  • Actually fixed an issue that caused many of the new Stocking Caps to not appear in loot.
  • Fixed a district reset that prevented players from queuing and loading into Team PvP.
  • Fixed a district reset with Team PvP.

Maintenance

  • Code cleanup.
  • Localizer grammar and typo fixes.

2018-7-8 tlopo-rc-v1.16.0[]

Features

  • Team PvP is finally here! Battle in groups in the Pillager's Pass map on Tortuga! Grab your mates and queue for a match in one of the following ways:
  • Form two separate crews and battle the opposite team by selecting the battle button in the player card of one of your opposing teammates.
  • Queue as a crew in the lookout panel or in the player card of another crew member to be split into teams and face off against each other!
  • Queue solo in the lookout panel to be matched on teams randomly with other pirates.
  • Based on community feedback, boss loot has been heavily improved! You should notice an increase in the quality of containers dropped by bosses.
  • To be clear, this does not affect item RARITY rates - just container types.
  • Be sure to leave us your feedback on the forums about this change. More skull chests for all!
  • Craving ink? Be sure to go check out Nina Perpetua in the Las Pulgas tattoo shop for some hot new "full sleeve" arm tattoos.
  • Loot Chests can now be replaced in sailing loot.
  • This does NOT affect anything that drops within Loot Chests or the chance that you plunder a chest in the first place. All it means is more Loot Skull Chests and materials for you and your crew if you so desire!
  • We researched this extensively. This change was put in place to more accurately match the sailing loot experience from the original game.
  • We've added a few new weapons to loot! Most of these were added in order to fill in some holes in a few weapon groups. The following new items were added to complete some weapon groups:
    • Admiral's Broadsword
    • Commodore's Broadsword
    • Corsair's Blunderbuss
    • Divine Musket
    • Divine Pistol
    • Divine Repeater Pistol
    • First Mate's Broadsword
    • Knives of the Bear Idol
    • Knives of the Dark Idol
    • Knives of the Moon Idol
    • Orangutan Blunderbuss
    • Orangutan Broadsword
    • Privateer's Blunderbuss
    • Quartermaster's Broadsword
    • Seven Seas Bayonet
    • Seven Seas Blunderbuss
  • The following previously unreleased weapons are now available in loot:
    • Tyranny Doll
    • Warmonger Doll
    • Gorilla Doll
    • Adventurer Doll
    • Treasure Hunter Doll
    • You can now loot Admiral Broadsword weapon group. This includes the Quartermaster's, First Mate's, Lieutenant's, Commander's, Captain's, Commodore's, Vice Admiral's, and Admiral's Broadswords.
  • We've also added a ton of new random bosses over 240!
    • Every single enemy type now has 4 random bosses (with the exception of Jumbees, Rage Ghosts, Powder Keg Runners, and Undead Captains).
    • For a refresher: Random bosses are rare powerful enemies that have a low chance of spawning in place of a regular foe. You may go quite a while without seeing one! This has no effect on stationary bosses like General Darkhart.
    • For the first time ever, there are now random bosses for Ghosts and the Crew of the Flying Dutchman! Head on over to Isla Tormenta and Raven's Cove to check them out.
    • Many other miscellaneous enemy types now have bosses too, most notably Navy Officers, Undead Executioners, and many many more.
    • We took a lot of care with the names for these bosses. Be sure to check them out! Many of them are easter eggs calling back to the olden days of POTCO beta (or pre-beta). You may even see some references to lore beyond the game...
  • A new outfit has been added to the game. See it when the Peddlers restock on August 1st!

Bugfixes

  • Boss fixes:
    • Fixed an old Disney issue that caused a handful of random bosses to be categorized as roosters, pigs, and ravens. I for one want an angry rooster boss that pecks you to death and drops a legendary, but you can't win 'em all.
    • Fixed an old Disney issue that caused a handful of random bosses to stop spawning.
    • Fixed an old Disney issue that caused dozens of random bosses to be mis-categorized. For example, bosses that were Scorpions accidentally turned into Fly Traps.
  • Guild fixes:
    • Fixed a district reset with guild promotions.
    • Fixed an issue where guilds were able to accumulate too many invite tokens, causing some players to be unable to use their pirates if their guild reached this maximum.
  • Miscellaneous fixes:
    • Clothing icon color fixes.
    • Potential fix for players only looting the Gold Tiger Stripe Stocking Cap instead of one of the other 15 new stocking caps.
    • If you're still having issues with this, please send us your feedback! We can only test if this works via the large number of people looting on the main game. Thank you!
  • PvP fixes:
    • Fixed a bug where killing yourself with grenades in PvP would count as kill credit.
    • Fixed a district reset when using the Throw Dirt skill in PvP.
    • Fixed a district reset with the PvP matchmaker.
    • Fixed an issue that caused players to spawn directly next to the enemy in Team PvP.
    • Fixed an issue that caused teams to be formed improperly in Team PvP.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the red Infamy "rank up" message to not show up when you leveled up to a new Infamy rank.
    • Fixed an issue where matchmaking requests would build up and not be deleted.
    • The message that displays when you are clumsy with grenades is now gender neutral and won't say "his" when a female pirate does it.
    • Reworked how spawn bubbles function in PvP. We are still working on preventing grenade damage from going through the shield, but other issues with it should be resolved.
  • Quest fixes:
    • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes not be able to attack Kudgel during the Raven's Cove Story Quest. If you still encounter issues killing Kudgel, switch servers.
    • Fixed bonus rewards from the Raven's Cove Story Quest not being properly awarded. This has been a thorn in our side for quite some time now. We're glad this bug is finally squashed!
    • We know there are still a ton of quest bugs out there, from missing quests to broken search containers. This is a top priority. Thanks for your patience!
  • Voodoo Doll fixes:
    • This is NOT a drill! We've made some progress on the voodoo doll sound effect bug! Sound the alarm... but not too loudly! Our ears are still ringing from having to put up with that noise for so long. Thanks for your patience! There are a few instances where this pesky bug still shows itself again. We hope to have this bug fully squashed in the next release.
    • Fixed an issue where the attune sound effect would persist and get louder if the attuned enemy was defeated.
    • Fixed an issue where the attune sound effect would persist and get louder if the attuned player would go to jail.
    • Fixed an issue where the attune sound effect would persist and get louder if the attuned player would teleport away.
    • Fixed an issue where the attune sound effect would persist and get louder on players and enemies after the doll was put away.
    • Fixed an issue where killing multiple attuned enemies with a voodoo doll would not properly award reputation or loot for all of them.
    • The voodoo swirl effect will no longer persist at the feet of enemies and players after they have been unattuned or if the doll has been put away.

Maintenance

  • Added an internal debug feature to help better track the black screen PvP bug.
    • Thanks so much for your patience with this! We'll keep working on it until it's fixed!
  • Code cleanup.
  • Changed some dates for some upcoming holidays.
  • Localizer grammar and typo fixes.
  • Reorganized the Pirate Bayonet, Pirate Blunderbuss, and Idol Throwing Knives weapon groups. These changes were made to accommodate for the new weapon additions.
    • If you have any weapons from these groups in your inventory, you may see stat, rarity, and name changes. They should not be too radical. We made sure that the majority of the changes only benefited the player. So stats on a famed weapon you had could only be scaled up, rather than scaled down to a rare rank.
  • WhiteList and BlackList updates.

    • They can promote anyone all the way from Member up to Officer. Only the GM can name Co-GMs.
    • There is no limit on the number of Co-GMs a guild can have, but it is recommended that the Guildmaster does not give out the position lightly.
    • If a Guildmaster names someone new as the head of the guild, they will now step down to the rank of Co-GM instead of Officer.
    • If a Guildmaster pirate is deleted, the game will automatically select one of the Co-GMs to be the new GM instead of an Officer. If there are no Co-GMs, the game will pick from the next highest possible rank, whether that be Officer, Veteran, or Member.
    • In order to promote someone to the rank of Co-Guildmaster, they must already be an Officer.
  • Invasions are now 75% more likely to occur.

    • The time it takes to find a match has been upped from 10 seconds to 30 seconds to smoothen the process.
  • The "Puke" Potion has been added! Yuck, what's in that thing? Visit Padres del Fuego to brew one.

    • Only the Guildmaster and Co-Guildmasters can generate unlimited invite codes. Both the GM and Co-GM have the ability to clear any invite codes.

2018-3-23 (tlopo-rc-v1.11.8)[]

PSA[]

  • We have updated cargo drops for ships! They should now be close to how it was back in the original game. You won't have overflow like in TLOPO previously, but you will still keep your gold and retain the proper amount of loot or skull chests that can fit in your ship's cargo hold.
    • Please note that ship cargo is NOT sailing loot. These are two entirely different systems. Your loot drops will not be affected in any way by this update.

Features[]

  • Added a custom music track for Hollowed Woods. Since players won't be able to enter the area until Halloween, we recommend that you look up our old alpha 2015 Halloween track if you're curious about how it sounds. It's very similar.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the loading screens for Hollowed Woods and Raven's Cove to display incorrect pictures when using the classic style loading screen.
  • Fixed several issues with flagships.
  • Slightly lowered enemy aggression so players won't be ganged up by 10+ enemies at once.
  • Updated cargo drops for ships to reflect how they were rewarded in the original game.

Maintenance[]

  • Code cleanup.
  • Changed date ranges for some upcoming holidays.
  • Localizer typo/grammar fixes.

Known Issues[]

  • Attacking the Queen Anne's Revenge may cause a player's ship to lock people out, preventing them from boarding it.
  • Enemies on EITC Barracuda flagships fall through the deck of the ship. This may prevent you from defeating them and may trap you on the ship. We recommend avoiding them for now.

PSA

  • Make sure to check out our list of Known Issues. There are still quite a few things we're working on fixing that may still be interrupting your gameplay. Thanks so much for your patience!
  • Many players have been asking us if any changes were made to land loot recently. We have not touched land loot in any form in any of the recent updates. Thanks!
