November 29th - Winners of the Guild Spotlight

Hearty thanks to all Pirates who nominated a deserving Guild for the spotlight! This time around, we honor three worthy Pirate Guilds…
Please join us in congratulating the Pirates of Bravehearts, McRaging, and Aquanauts – our November 2012 Guild Spotlight winners!

Bravehearts
Founded December 27, 2011
Chloe – Guild Master

Bravehearts

About to celebrate their one-year anniversary in December, the Bravehearts Guild has successfully grown in large leaps and bounds in a very short time. Guild Master Chloe and her trusted First Officer (and co-founder) Sleepy Pumpkin smartly made sure the Guild did not overgrow itself too fast however, by always marking well the principles of “Have Fun, Be Nice & Help Others.” Words to plunder by, most certainly! This straightforward and effective code has earned this Pirate crew the glowing reputation for being a very helpful, and amiable Guild. True to their name, the Bravehearts are an exceptionally courageous crew. These loyal lads ‘n lasses stand up to the worst enemies in the Caribbean, and the Bravehearts frequently put themselves at risk to heal or revive other Pirates as well.
Whether questing in dark catacombs or boldy battling Bounty Hunters at sea, you can hear their cry ring out: Fight well, Bravehearts!

McRaging
Founded January 27, 2008
Eric Mcrage – Guild Master

McRaging

One of the largest and longest-standing Guilds in these seven seas, McRaging distinguishes itself as a force to be reckoned with, thanks to extremely active members and keen, knowledgeable leadership. Steadfast Guild Master Eric Mcrage and his highly dedicated Officers keep their crew of cutthroats engaged, informed, and leveling up at all times.
To say the Pirates of this savvy Guild are devoted to keeping the Caribbean fun, fair, and safe is surely an understatement… why, you might as well say Jack Sparrow is “just decent” with a blade! McRaging Pirates respect their buccaneer brethren by politely checking before teleporting to their mates, asking before grabbing the helm of a ship, keeping their chat clean, and not using foul cheats or glitches. These adventure-loving rascals stick to the Code, and set a shining example for other swashbucklers to boot.
Longtime Founders regularly remark that they’ve seen Guilds sink or sail these past many years, but McRaging is always there, enthusiastically helping Pirates and running regular Guild events and celebrations. Two months away from marking four grand years in the Caribbean, the McRaging Guild still sails strong in a savvy style all their own. Wear yer McRaging red with pride, mates – Huzzah!

Aquanauts
Founded January 29, 2012
Ben Cannonburn – Guild Master

Aquanauts

The Aquanauts prove you don’t have to be the biggest Guild out there to hit the spotlight… so long as yer exemplary in the life of a Pirate! As their maritime moniker makes clear, the Aquanauts live to rule the seas. Whether plundering enemy warships, cleverly evading Bounty Hunters, or fearlessly going bow-to-bow with the deadly Queen Anne’s Revenge, these salty dogs are true Scoundrels of the Seas.
Swift at sea, and equally quick to aid any Pirate in need, Guild Master Ben Cannonburn boldly leads his savvy crew to help all Pirates complete their Quests, and customize their vessels as proudly as the Aquanauts do. This obliging Guild regularly guides other Pirates on seafaring runs for rare materials to allow those who need some extra wind in their sails the means to upgrade their ships for battle, or outfit colorful sails and emblems – all in the proud Aquanaut tradition. In fact, we’re told Aquanauts “hold material runs nightly” to help each other and other Guilds to increase their plunder at sea.
Make merry, mates, on yer one-year anniversary this coming January. It is certainly well-deserved. Battle on, Aquanauts!

Three cheers to our trio of worthy Guilds!
Keep up yer fine work in the Caribbean, mates – we hope to cross paths with ye soon!

November 20th - Thankful GMs Celebrate Pirate Victories

After a hard-fought October protecting these islands as a united buccaneer brethren, it’s time to claim yer well-deserved victory.

From November 20 through November 25, gather yer mates and Guilds to make merry on the shores of Tortuga! The grand bonfires standing on Tortuga beach mark well that we Pirates will always stand our ground against all foes.
The bonfire lighting begins each day at 4pm (Pacific Standard Time).

November 1st - Peddlers Play The Diplomat

20121101-diplomat
November marks our annual Pirate Brethren Victory Feast, where scoundrels of all sorts celebrate our triumphs of the past year, and strengthen the bonds between buccaneers.

The Overseers of the Caribbean commissioned the Peddlers to craft Pirate gear worthy of this celebration, and dubbed it:

The Diplomat

Peddlers can be spotted selling their gear on Port Royal, Tortuga, Padres del Fuego, and Cuba.

October 26th - A Jolly Deadly Weekend Warning...

All Hallows' Eve creeps ever closer this weekend, and vile ol' Jolly Roger plans to make the most of it!

121026-curse-jr

The Curse of the Muertos Moon grows stronger and stronger the closer we get to October 31st. After Jolly's hex throws Pirates into disarray, all reports point to ol’ Jolly rallying his undead minions for all-out invasion strikes – starting this weekend!

Gather yer crew and a healthy stock of tonics to repel Jolly Roger’s deadly skeletal forces before they overrun the entire Caribbean.

And if ye haven't yet picked up a Spectral Cutlass or grabbed yer Zombie Kabab Bayonet, now's the time, mates!

Garb of the Undead

Even if you escape the Curse of the Muertos Moon, those clever Peddlers have made sure Pirates can once again look frighteningly fearsome whenever ye please by donning the tattered togs of the undead.

But beware Jolly Roger and his invading minions – we’re not sure they’ll take kindly to Pirates posing as the undead, even on All Hallows’ Eve.

Find yer local Peddlers selling their wares on Port Royal, Tortuga, Padres del Fuego, or Cuba.
You’ll spot them by their special symbol shown here:

Don’t delay, mates!
A savvy Pirate wouldn’t want to be caught dead wearing anything else this All Hallows’ Eve!

October 19th - Zombie Trance Makes for a Bizarre Dance

121019-zombie-dance

The Ghost GMs enjoyed meeting many Pirates last weekend, and summoning powerful rare weapons and hard-to-loot crude items for Basic Pirates too. Despite the chaos caused by Jolly’s continual curse-casting, the Ghosts were very pleased to watch you equip yer new weapons bravely against his hordes of invading undead.

But this supernatural month is not over yet, and Jolly Roger’s magic grows only stronger as All Hallows’ Eve creeps closer. So the Ghosts bring back a popular charm to keep Pirates –ahem– on their toes.

Starting today, charm yer Pirate with this strange trance by entering /zombie
into your chat window!

October 17th - Peddlers Release the Sea Serpent!

Peddlers expect to sell out of the dashing Bounty Hunter gear in a matter of hours.

Keep close watch for the final All Hallows' outfit next week!

October 11th - A Haunted Hunt For Ghostly Gifts

Woe to our friendly Ghost GMs!
As if it weren’t hard enough wandering the islands as disembodied apparitions, Jolly Roger’s infernal hex casting always brings bad tidings to the spirit world. To help Pirates defend against ol’ Jolly’s upcoming onslaught, Ghost GMs will arm Pirates they happen to meet in the Caribbean this weekend with special weapons.

Seek out Ghost GMs this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 12–14 wherever a spirit may possibly roam in the Caribbean.

121011-haunted-hunt
If yer lucky enough to cross paths with a Ghost GM, they will do their best to summon a weapon to keep ye battle-ready.

Hard-to-loot items such as the Witch Hunter Sabre, Grave Reaper, Grim Hound Blade, and Hex Stopper Musket are all possibilities.

Basic Pirates, this means you too! Ghost GMs can also summon crude weapons that are only found in loot drops for you to equip as well.

Thanks to Jolly Roger’s dark magics, the spirit world is already in disarray so there are no guarantees of a ghostly meeting. But these weapon rewards are surely worth the hunt!

October 8th - Beware a Month of the Muertos Moon

Dark-magic-month

It’s the most supernatural month of the year, and powerful magic is already brewing Jolly dark magicthroughout the Caribbean – including Jolly Roger’s own dark magic. As any Pirate worth his salt knows, ol’ Jolly grows deadly strong this time of year, and he’ll unleash his macabre mayhem upon the Caribbean any day now!

Jolly’s Curse of the Muertos Moon is known and feared throughout the islands. Any Pirate on land and outdoors who is struck by the cursed moonlight transforms into one of Jolly’s undead minions, with an inhuman thirst for battle!

If yer seeking safety from Jolly Roger’s vile curse, get aboard yer ship or indoors before the Curse strikes.

October 1st - Eerie Gear From Raven's Cove

Those scoundrels lucky enough to drop in on their local Peddler over the past couple days caught an unannounced sneak peek at some brand new gear.

What does this brief glimpse at these new outfits mean? The Peddlers have a jolly surprise up their sleeve for later this month... so keep a weather eye out in the Caribbean, and right here on the Grog Blog...

Raven's Cove Mercenary

Peddlers originally found these garments strewn about on derelict ships set adrift around Raven's Cove. To bring Pirates even more of this popular garb, Peddler Monger Morton bravely smuggled more items past the deadly Rage Ghosts on the island, in fittin' fashion for an eerie October.

You can catch Peddlers selling this mysterious gear, as well as last month's Capt. Black, for a limited time on Port Royal, Tortuga, Padres del Fuego, and Cuba.

September 13th - The Savvy Six

Many thanks, mates, for all yer Savvy submissions! We received boat loads, and while it’s never an easy task to choose from so many, these “Savvy Six” of yer fellow Pirates stood out from all others to claim the high honors this go ‘round:

Congratulations to this year’s Savvy Swashbucklers!
Aurora Ocean Knight
Aurora-ocean-knight

Savvy leader of the Ocean Gods Guild, Aurora Ocean Knight works (and plunders!) tirelessly to rally her Guild’s strength and success. Her kind, caring friendship extends well beyond her own Guild, helping and healing Pirates throughout the islands. If you find this generous Pirate teleporting to your side to revive you, expect this loyal lass to battle on 'til yer enemies are completely vanquished and you are safe.
Though known for her keen fashion sense (is that a touch of Wildfire we spy?), Aurora takes the Pirate Code very much to heart and works to make her Guild and the whole Caribbean a safe, friendly, and fun environment for us scoundrels.
Steadfast despite all obstacles, Aurora Ocean Knight battles through in the finest swashbuckling spirit.

John Foulroberts
John-foulroberts

Extremely well-versed in the ways of a Pirate, there are few better than John Foulroberts to have at your side aboard ship, or at your back during an Invasion.
As a knowledgeable Officer of Dark Archive, John constantly looks out for his Guild mates with a steady hand on the helm, and a quick answer to any call for help. This savvy friendliness extends to all Pirates, who regularly count on John for wise words – or a well-aimed grenade when needed.
John means business when it comes to maintaining a safe and prosperous Guild, but when it comes to a swashbuckling adventure, this Pirate knows how to make merry with the best of them.
Good humor and good form all come with the territory when plunderin’ alongside this truly savvy swashbuckler!

Punkin Pie
Punkin-pie

Punkin Pie became a Guildmaster when her Guild needed her the most, and has made the most of it in undaunted fashion! She has shaped her Guild back to its glory as an active, friendly, and courteous crew of cutthroats. Her mates proclaim, “Punkin Pie stands as an exceptional example of a helpful, kind pirate that everyone wants on their friends list.”
As their fearless leader, Punkin Pie is quick to nip any Guild issues in the bud in a considerate and timely way – and just as quick to rally her mates in exciting adventures, such as hosting regular boss raids.
Punkin Pie always goes out of her way to put other Pirates first, helping with Quests, standing up to foul enemies, and cheering her fellow swashbucklers on to fun and victory.

Brew Haha
Brew-haha

Don’t let that light-hearted moniker fool ye! As an Officer in the enormous Wrath of Ravens Guild, Brew Haha has his work cut out for him. And with remarkably savvy spirit, Brew Haha succeeds on all fronts.

Just say the word (usually “Help!”), and this exceptionally considerate Pirate is on his way to save the day. Always willing to help he is, and always ready to take on any challenge the Caribbean can dish out.
Brew Haha carries on no matter what grave enemy he and his mates may be facing down in battle, and does so with exceptional humor and wit. This easy going and amiable personality extends especially to new and low-level Pirates in the Caribbean, whom Brew Haha always welcomes with great warmth – and perhaps an invite for a bit of plunderin’ at sea!

Kate Bladebreaker
Kate-bladebreaker

This mighty lass’ quickly rising Notoriety makes it know she’s a Pirate to be reckoned with! Kate has earned much respect and friendship throughout the Caribbean through her dedicated work as an Officer in the Dead Mans Band Guild. Her Guildmaster proudly beams, “Kate is the person that originally got me playing. She is our most helpful Guild member, never turning down the opportunity to help someone regardless of what level or who they are. She goes out of her way to help all people, and truly personifies the sense of camaraderie and goodwill amongst us!”
Through her excellent example of unbending loyalty and unquenchable will in the face of any challenge, Kate Bladebreaker is truly a Pirate deserving the honor of Savvy Swashbuckler.

Delmaria Darkskull
Delmaria-darkskull

Few Pirates have not heard of the illustrious Delmaria Darkskull, but many owe him a scoundrel’s debt for his tremendous accomplishments throughout these islands. Captain Del as his friends know him (and there are scores, to be sure) dedicates himself to uniting all Pirate brethren and Guilds to keep the Caribbean safe, welcoming, and full of adventuresome enjoyment. This gallant leader succeeds in bringing together friends, crews, and Guilds from Isla Perdida to Padres del Fuego in numerous fun events, such as vast ship barricades and island raids.
A master of PvP, SvS, weapons, and swashbuckling skills, Delmaria Darkskull never misses an opportunity to help and instruct other Pirates to advance and grow into savvy scoundrels themselves.
We understand that Delmaria Darkskull recently passed his mantle of leadership to his trusted co-lead of Partners N Crime. We know full well that his shining example of unity as a truly exceptional Pirate and Guild officer continues making a positive impact across the high seas. Battle on, Captain Del!

Tip yer tricorne, mates, and help us cheer our winners this time around!
We hope to see even more remarkable Pirates in our next run of Savvy Swashbucklers!

We’re flabbergasted by the amount of perfect Pirate gear Peddlers are producing this year, and perhaps none more so than September’s brand new garb. Well-dressed Pirates’ top request is for more black-colored clothing kits befittin’ the life of a seafaring scoundrel.

Peddlers begin offering these new items Sept. 1 on Port Royal, Tortuga, Padres del Fuego, and Cuba.

Gather yer gold, and look for the Peddlers' special symbol:

August 6th - Spotlight on the Spectral Cutlass

Even Pirates who have not yet completed the Raven's Cove Quest are getting a taste of those powerful Cursed blades' abilities by wielding the new Spectral Cutlass.

Though technically not a Cursed blade, the Ghost GMs did impart a potent Dark Curse on the supernatural Spectral Cutlass. Once this special ability is activated, the Curse transforms you into an orange ghost form - granting you temporary special defense from enemy attacks.

Spectral-cutlass-card

Many Pirates have asked how to activate this special Dark Curse skill? Use your cutlass, mates! As you battle enemies with yer Spectral Cutlass, its special skill charges up as you dish out perfect combo attacks or even take damage from your enemy. Once fully charged, click the Dark Curse icon and watch yerself go ghostly!

When you activate the special ghost form skill, you may sometimes even see its spectral energies erupt out of the ebony blade in the form of shadow trails during battle.

Test Server Pirates have also asked if the Spectral Cutlass is available on Test, and the answer is aye! The same spectral code is now redeemable on the Test Server, as well as zombie for the Zombie Kabab Bayonet.

If ye have not yet unsheathed this supernatural skill, just redeem the code: spectral

Ghost-hunt

Each day's new set of clues to locate the ghosts will be revealed right here on this same Blog post, at these times:

  • FRIDAY, JULY 20: 11am (PST)
  • SATURDAY, JULY 21: 4pm (PST)
  • SUNDAY, JULY 22: 4pm (PST)

When she reveals the daily clues, Sandra Tew will also give a "voodoo phrase" for that day. Then the hunt officially begins!

Figure out the clue, find the ghost in orange orb state, and speak the "voodoo phrase" of the day to set the orange Ghost GM free.

Remember, when you find the orange orb ghost, you must speak this phrase in chat to free the Ghost GM. If you successfully restore the captive spirit, the orb turns blue.

The first Pirate to find and free the Ghost at a particular location wins the reward:
50,000 gold coins!

If you find a ghost and the orb is already blue, that means another swift and savvy Pirate has beat you to it, and already won the reward.

NOTE: Gold code prizes will be awarded through e-mail. Make sure your e-mail address is current on the Pirate’s account you’re competing with by clicking here!

July 18th - Have You Seen This Ghost?

Jolly Roger's constant curse-casting this past Friday the 13th weekend created chaos for more than just us Pirates. Thanks to his dark magics, the Ghost GMs of the Caribbean have been scattered about the islands, trapped as glowing orange orbs.

While using her mystic voodoo skills to locate the missing ghosts, Tia Dalma fell into a trance and began writing out strange runes. The Marceline Guild's own resident voodoo expert, Sandra Tew, is working on deciphering these runes - they are our only clues to find and free our phantom friends.

Missing-ghosts
We expect her to reveal the clues right here on the Grog Blog on these dates:FRIDAY, JULY 20: 11am (PST)
SATURDAY, JULY 21: 4pm (PST)
SUNDAY, JULY 22: 4pm (PST)

Once we have the clues, we'll need Pirates to reach the trapped ghosts, and free them from their orange orbstate. If you're savvy 'n swift enough to do both first, the Marceline Guild promises a rich reward for yer help.

Check back here at the Grog Blog on the days and times listed above for Sandra Tew's clues. Once the clues are posted at those times, the hunt is on!

July 11th - Countdown to Friday the 13th Weekend

"Third time's a charm" as the saying goes, but when it's the third Friday the 13th this year, it's more likely a hex... especially where Jolly Roger's concerned.

Pirates dealt Jolly Roger’s undead forces an unlucky hand recently, smashing scores of his skeletons. Ol’ Jolly never has held a lucky hand at the card table, so it seems he took it a bit personally, and means to return the favor this ill-fated weekend.

Icon curse

Starting this Friday, Jolly comes seekin' revenge (and maybe some new recruits) by unleashing his Curse of The Muertos Moon.
Beware the full moon rising with Jolly’s face – either get to safety indoors, or be turned into an undead minion by the tainted moonlight.

June 27th - Spotlight on the Zombie Kabab Bayonet

Pirates all over the Caribbean are grabbing up the brand new Zombie Kabab Bayonet!
Look sharp - if you've not yet added this silver-tipped striker to yer weapons inventory, time to get up close and personal (not too close, mind ye) with its battle prowess:

Kabab-card

With a respectable Attack, and low Skill level to equip, the Zombie Kabab is the perfect bayonet for newer Pirates making their way on the islands.

Even saltier ol' Pirates can't argue against the usefulness of its Silver Shot Boost. Those sterling silver blasts are particularly effective against all manner of undead ghouls. Keep those gruesome skeletons at a distance with the Kabab's long range. And if one should surprise you from out behind a gravestone, the silver Bayonet is equally effective in close quarters.

Next time Jolly Roger's forces get an idea to invade our islands, give yer new Zombie Kabab Bayonet a go!

June 22nd - Battle the Undead with the Zombie Kabab Bayonet

Send those skeletons rattling back to the graveyard with the all-new
Zombie Kabab Bayonet!

In a year of three unlucky Friday the 13ths and constant undead invasions, gunsmith Erasmus Grimsditch has had enough (it’s not easy living on an island infamous for Catacombs inundated with undead).

Ol’ Grimsditch took matters into his own skilled hands and crafted this trusty new silver bayonet for Pirates to swiftly dispatch their enemies – especially the gruesome, mindless variety.

June 1st - Dress Yer Deadly Best

French-assassin-lass
Pierre le Porc's operatives are infamous for doing their best work in the dead of night. Indeed, the elegantly sinister style of those French spies and agents inspired this month's brand new Peddler gear:

French Assassin

French-assassin-lad

With a sublime style all its own, this cunning cloak-and-dagger look is creating quite a stir throughout the Caribbean - even Spanish loyalists have been spotted sporting the unique garb!

No doubt Pierre le Porc is pleased as punch with this fashionable development. What does Garcia de la Avaricia think about all this? We'll be sure to ask him when he wakes up...

Peddlers sell their wares on Port Royal, Tortuga, Padres del Fuego, and Cuba. You can spot them by their special symbol shown here:
Peddler Icon

UPDATE: It seems Captain Garcia de la Avaricia is none too pleased with this French fashion trend sweeping the islands. Spanish operatives appear to have been dispatched to interrupt the Peddlers' supply lines, and unfortunately the trousers for lady Pirates have gone missing for now...

May 30th - Feats of Strength 2012 Details

The Feats of Strength Competition is coming up this weekend! The event runs over three days: Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3.

Thanks to all brave Pirates who signed up to compete - make sure you double-check your race day, time, and Ocean (server) in last week's schedule postings here on the Blog.

With no further delay, here are the event details for our competitors:
Feats of strength competition

Challenge #1 - Starting Line:

Competitors will meet on Devil's Anvil at their designated start time (All times posted are PST/Los Angeles) and at their designated Ocean on the correct day.

(Example: Gilded Lily (44) Golden Guild, June 3, 2:40pm, Guines)

Officially listed competitors ONLY should check in with the Marceline Guild GM that is located there to start your race. You can identify them by the icon above their heads:

Admin logo

The GM will then whisper a pass phrase AND location to only the competitors. Be prepared to memorize or write both down - and hang on, mate! If you leave before the GM says "GO", you will be disqualified.

The GM will put you on yer mark, get you set, and when the GM says "GO" the race is on!

Challenge #2 - The Race:

Do your best to get to the location the GM told you. Swift Foot potions, sailing, and teleporting are all fair game!

When you get to the correct location, type your pass phrase in the chat window. Pretty much YELL IT OUT!

An invisible Ghost GM will be at the correct location and will hear your cries! If you are at the right spot and have spoken the correct pass phrase, the Ghost GM will whisper to you a riddle. Mark well the GM's words, mate - this riddle contains clues to the final leg of the race: the Finish Line!

Challenge #3 - The Finish Line:

The home-stretch! Decipher the riddle given to you and make your way to that final location using the riddle as your clue. Once you are standing on the exact spot from the clue, yell out your pass phrase again and use the emote /flex in front of the Marceline GM at the Finish Line. Flexing is your finishing move.

The GM will acknowledge the First, Second and Third place winners of the race at the Finish Line.

GMs will be monitoring all areas of the course. Some GMs may be visible while others may not be, but they will be watching all competitors closely and checking for any sign of cheating. Any cheating or disrupting other racers will disqualify you.

All Pirates are welcome to watch and support friends and Guild mates. Any alternates to replace no-shows will be selected from the crowd at hand. Please keep your weapons stowed during the event. Pirates that harass competitors or GMs or interfere with the course in any way will be removed from the game.

Good luck, mates!

April 27th - Crewing Up for Plunder

With upgrade Levels 5 and 6 now available, more and more Pirates seek to plunder materials with Crews aboard public ships that can match a Warship’s firepower - and outpace those Bounty Hunters.

Panel 210x158 crewbonus
Plundering at sea as part of a Crew also earns you a hearty Reputation bonus. The more shipboard mates in yer Crew, the greater the bonus.

When jumping aboard a public ship for one or two plunderin' cruises, heed a bit of shipboard etiquette to get you in good with a new Crew:

ShipRepairRevealed

  • Ahoy, Cap'n - Make yer presence known to the Captain.
  • Crew Up - Ask politely to join the shipboard Crew.
  • All Hands on Deck - Yer not here to sightsee, sailor. Man those cannons. Alert the Captain when you spot incoming Bounty Hunters.

Most importantly, repair damage to keep yer Crew afloat!

April 18th - Upgrade Spotlight: Skull & Bones!

Grim and determined, the dark Skull & Bones upgrade strikes mortal fear into your enemies’ hearts – and deadly Fury broadsides into their hulls.

Skull-bones-prow

Skeletons have long been many Pirates’ symbol of choice, and this Level 4 upgrade doesn’t disappoint with her chilling array of bony embellishments.

Skull-bones-deck
Focus on either the Armor or Cargo upgrade path, then choose Skull & Bones as yer Level 4 upgrade:

Bounty Hunters can carry regular materials such as pine, iron, and canvas. Warships can carry any material including the rare oak, steel, and silk materials.

April 12th - Friday the 13th Strikes Again

Pirates know full well that Friday the 13th is the unluckiest day of the year – and this year we face no less than three. Never one to miss a chance for troublemaking, Jolly Roger means to use this bad-luck weekend to his good advantage.
Friday-curse

Curses fly all weekend, starting this Friday the 13th, when Jolly unleashes his Curse of the Muertos Moon. Any Pirate on land and outdoors that is struck by the cursed moonlight transforms into one of Jolly’s undead minions. Beware those cursed Pirates seeking to do battle under Jolly Roger’s blight - or shatter his spell by defeating them.

Seeking safety from the vile hex by putting out to sea? Ye may just sail straight into Jolly’s trap, as he’s ordered the Queen Anne's Revenge to stalk the seas all weekend during the Curse. UPDATE: Scouts are reporting Jolly Roger has changed his plans at sea. Keep a weather eye out for the deadly Queen Anne's Revenge and her lethal jumbee crew. Could ol' Jolly be second-guessing his fleet's strength against our new ship upgrades...?

WHAT: The Curse of the Muertos Moon & Ghost Ship fleets

WHEN: Friday, April 13 – Sunday, April 15 On yer toes, mates – the Curse and Ghost Ship fleets can strike multiple times in one day.

April 1st - New Enemies Invade the Caribbean!

Chicken dance
Jolly Roger must be getting truly desperate in his bid to overrun the Caribbean. Not content with raising undead Pirates into his ranks, ol' Jolly has now resorted to cursed… chickens?

There's no way to know when or where these pillaging poultry will invade next. Unless of course you hear some clucking behind you. That's usually a pretty good sign that the chicken onslaught draws near.

Spread the word, mates, and rally yer Guilds! Defend those barricades against the menace of this fearsome, feathery foe! Or just spread some corn and seed on the beach. That would probably do the trick as well.
Jolly chickens

Need we say it? Happy April Fool's Day, Pirates!

And don't worry - luckily Pirates will not be sporting moustaches this year for April Fool's Day. Only kidding. Again.

CaptXHench
If you sail into the Caribbean today, your stash of plunder isn’t the only 'stache your Pirate will see. Fortunately the hairy hoax lasts only through April 1st, and your salty face will return to normal at the end of the day.

March 30th - Keep To The Code of the Caribbean

Stay savvy, mates, and always adventure in the Caribbean under these simple rules:

  • Never give out your account information or passwords
  • Never share your personal information with anyone
  • Never use your username or password on fan sites, online forums, or any applications outside of Pirates Online.

Even if someone promises you unlikely rewards, like weapons, clothing, Notoriety, or Unlimited Access - do not be tricked! Giving out your account information will more likely result in your Pirate being stolen, a ban, and termination of your account.

No one wants to lose all the time and effort spent building up a mighty Pirate. Accounts terminated for hacking or sharing personal information will not be reinstated.

NOTE: Disney GMs will never ask for your personal information in the game.

Blog 07 14

Mark ye well, ALL Pirates are expected to follow the Pirates Online Code of Conduct.

Pirates that don't follow these rules can be removed from the game, in some cases permanently. If you are unsure of a situation, just grab a parent for help.

Contact Us to report anyone asking for your account information or password. Keep your account under lock and key!

March 20th - Irish Luck Sets Sail Soon With the Tide

We hope your St. Patrick’s adventures have brought much luck, perhaps even a bit o’ gold, over the past week.
Green Lad
But alas, the green tides shall soon subside...
Green Lass
Be sure to get yer green hair, emerald tattoos, and special St. Patrick’s Day Peddler gear now – for after March 21 they will vanish quick as a wink, like Shamus O’Malley himself.

May all yer quests in the Caribbean continue to be as lucky as the green shamrock!

Shamus-jig
GM Shamus O'Malley dished out gold while dancing many a' jig with green Pirates.
Old-sooty-in-seas
These lucky Pirates found GM Old Sooty cooling off in the green seas - and received gold while enjoying their swim.

March 15th - Find a Bit o' Gold This Weekend

If you’ve been hoping for some extra gold, you may be in luck – if yer lucky enough to catch GM Shamus O’Malley or GM Old Sooty!

Shamus O’Malley enjoys nothing better than a bit o’ the green, so naturally he’s asked the emerald ghost Old Sooty to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year. If you spot either Shamus or green Old Sooty this weekend, ask them politely to share some gold coins with ye before they vanish.
ShamusOMalley
(see below for how to redeem GM gold codes)

Seek out Shamus and Old Sooty on the Wild Islands of Isla Perdida, Rumrunner’s Isle, Isla Cangrejos, and Driftwood Island. These two rascals spend their time on the busier Oceans (servers).

You may find it easier to attract these elusive GMs by wearing a bit o' the green in yer hair, clothes, and tattoos!

What: Spot Shamus and Old Sooty
OldSoot
Where: The northern Wild Islands: Isla Perdida, Rumrunner’s Isle, Isla Cangrejos, and Driftwood Island

When: Friday, March 16 – 11am to 12pm PST Saturday, March 17 – 3pm to 4pm PST Sunday, March 18 – 3pm to 4pm PST

How to use the gold code from GMs:

1) Hit "Enter" to open your chat window.

2) In the chat window, type /code followed by a space, then the code number

(*make sure you type a space between /code and the string of numbers) Example: /code 1234567891234567

3) Hit "Enter" again to redeem

4) If done correctly, a notice appears that the code has been redeemed successfully and your gold amount will increase.

NOTE: Pirates can use only ONE gold code PER DAY. So catch these green GMs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

March 13th - Green Tides and Irish Tidings

If you’ve noticed the sea turning a lovely shade of green off yer bow, then you already know GM Shamus O’Malley is up to his annual tricks.

Green-seas

As St. Patrick’s Day draws near, the leprechaun Pirate can’t help himself to show his love of all this things Irish… and green!

He’s even inspired the local Barbers and Ink Parlors to offer special emerald hair-dye, and Irish-themed tattoos.

St-patricks-day

We’ve spotted many clever Pirates who have already gone green, wearing the Emerald Duelist outfit from Peddlers – and the special St. Patrick’s Day gear is now also available for a limited time.

It’s rumored that soon Shamus may start popping up here and there in the Caribbean with gold for those Pirates lucky enough to cross his path. So if you want to catch his eye, ye best be wearing a bit o’ the green, mate!

What: Green Tidings for St. Patrick’s Day

Where: Only in the Caribbean

When: March 13 through March 21

March 7th - Upgrade Spotlight: Copperhead!

Steel yerself for battle behind the armored hull of the Copperhead!
This Level 4 upgrade protects both crew and plunder with fortified layers of iron and steel. Who needs speed when your armored shell laughs off enemy cannon-fire?

Copperhead 01
A seafaring stronghold, the Copperhead also packs quite a bite with her special explosive broadside attack.
Copperhead icon

There’s only one sure upgrade path to reach the Level 4 Copperhead ship: armor, armor, and more armor.

Plunder Bounty Hunters and enemy Warships for the iron and steel materials needed for this upgrade. Bounty Hunters can carry regular materials such as iron, pine, and canvas materials. Warships can carry any material including the rare steel, oak, and silk materials.

Copperhead 02
You must sink Bounty Hunters that are specifically on yer own ship’s tail to plunder their materials.

NOTE: Ship upgrades cannot be combined as you move from one upgrade path to another path. When weighing yer upgrade options at the Shipwright, the attributes you stand to increase by choosing a particular upgrade are shown in green. The attributes that will decrease should you choose that upgrade are marked red. Your ship’s current attributes will change if you choose to downgrade to a previous step in the upgrade path.

March 1st - Peddlers Keep Pirates in the Green

February 6th - Important Update

As many Pirates have noted, unexpected server outages have been plaguing the Caribbean and interrupting game play recently. We sincerely apologize for this major inconvenience. We’ve been able to track down the cause of the server restarts and have already begun implementing a series of fixes in order to put an end to this issue, the first of which went Live last week on January 25, 2012. We’re happy to report that this first step has already made a massive reduction in server restarts, and we are moving forward confidently with the subsequent fixes for this issue.

We want your adventures in the Caribbean to always be an exceptional swashbuckling experience, and we fully realize how frustrating these interruptions are to your game play. To show our thanks for your patience while we fix these issues, we will be compensating all paid players with a full 14 day complimentary extension on their Unlimited Access accounts.

We understand this does not compensate for any loot lost due to disconnections while at sea. We are also planning a special event to allow Pirates the opportunity to regain this lost plunder. Please keep checking our Current News section on the Pirates Online website for an upcoming announcement and more details on this soon.

Additionally, we would also like to address recent issues with our Double Gold Weekend by rewarding Basic and Unlimited Pirates with this special code: bounty This one-time use code grants 2,000 gold coins when redeemed in game. You can find out how to redeem codes in game here.

Thank you for your patience, and we apologize again for the inconvenience and difficulty you’ve experienced. We greatly appreciate your loyalty and concern as we get these recent issues ship-shape again.

Warning 36x32
Sincerely, The Crew @ Pirates Online

January 11th - Friday the 13th Spells Trouble

Friday-13

With voodoo and danger lurking in every corner of the Caribbean, Friday the 13th can be a tricky time for Pirates...

While yer busy side-stepping ladders and black cats, you may also want to keep a weather eye out for run-ins with other strange occurrences around the islands, the likes of Jolly Roger's forces or even the Queen Anne's Revenge at sea.

Yer chances of runnin' afoul of any mishaps this Friday are high, so be wary, mates..

Of course we Pirates make our own luck, and behind every challenge also lies the chance for plunder!

January 10th - Looking Back Over The Stern

Header 468x189
Page from Jolly Roger’s War Journal – discovered in the Cursed Caverns on Isla Tormenta, January 1st

This has been a great year for Pirates. Bah!

These meddlesome Pirate scum continue to keep total control of these islands just out of my bony grasp. A pox on them, and their newfound "Infamy" this past year. Even I must begrudge a shred of admiration for the advances in ranking these cutthroats make as they battle each other Privateering.

Header1
Wear your badges of infamy well, ye War Dogs, Commodores and Admirals – I wager they shall decorate my trophy room before the new year is through.
Blanco
Raising my undead armies from the graves of these fallen Privateers, I gain many a dark follower. This year brought two twisted brothers into my fold, Jacques le Blanc and Tomás Blanco. Locked in a rivalry of revenge, the brothers did destroy themselves to unwittingly end up in my undead ranks. My two undead lieutenants continue to fell Pirates for me on Isla Cangrejos and Cutthroat Isle, recruiting for my forces by the business end of their blades.
QAR 2
Strange tides did bring even more strength to my ranks, and devastation to Pirates at sea.

Those fools! While they searched far and wide for the Sword of Triton, my magics unearthed the means to create a powerful voodoo doll of Blackbeard’s own captain, LaSchafe.

Let those dim-witted Pirates have Blackbeard’s sword, for I hold his jumbee minions and the deadly Queen Anne’s Revenge in my thrall. No Pirate ship is safe when the Queen Anne’s Revenge stalks the seas, giving no quarter to those that cross my lady’s vicious path.

Threat L4
Aye, these waterlogged rats plunder many a weaker vessel in their attempt to earn the title "Scoundrel of the Seas". How it warms my icy blood to see the Bounty Hunter ships scatter and sink these hapless sailors. Why, even their own ports turn them away, making them easy prey for my Ghost Ships.
Icon curse

I found easy prey in these Pirates on land too – hexing the islands under my Curse of the Muertos Moon. While the fools ran confused and frightened as small rabbits, I returned to that wasteland of my greatest battle, Raven’s Cove, to work dark Grave Bind spells on the Rage Ghosts there.

Ghost gm lore image2

Through their influence, I nearly shackled all spirits in the Caribbean to my will – until Pirates came to the ghosts’ aid. Mark well, I won’t underestimate the Pirates’ insipid loyalty to those wretched ghosts a second time.

Invasions
Ahh how these islands shook in terror under my invading onslaught! How bravely these buccaneers fought to hold back my armies – and how deliciously I feasted on more fallen Pirates’ souls.

The witless fools thought themselves the victors, and quickly celebrated their hollow “triumph” with bonfires. Truly these will be the Pirates' funeral fires.

Ship-upgrade-materials-silk

Alas, Pirates lately discovered that the Navy and EITC were shipping valuable new materials aboard their strongest vessels.
Blog 12 14 new brig
Best I keep a watchful eye on what they fashion with these materials, lest it should prove a boon to them and their ships.

This new ship, the Brig, has already allowed many a Pirate to challenge my forces at sea… but as I always say, nothing beats a good fight before a meal. Even that rascally cad Jack Sparrow managed to elude me yet again this year – blast his impish luck. But when yer undead, there’s always another dark day. The sands of my hourglass never run empty.

So go on, fool Pirates, with yer noisome celebrations and idle merrymaking. They serve only to distract you while I gather more forces… and make ready my next move.

Let the New Year come – and the Caribbean beware…
