Storage containers are wooden crates and barrels you can found almost everywhere "search" by clicking the Shift key once you approach closely enough to see the green circle. Make sure to attack any nearby enemies though or else they will attack you if they catch you snooping around with their stuff.

Barrels and crates are not the only storage containers, however. Sometimes containers will range from a simple crate to a bookshelf, desk, or wardrobe.

Some quest items occur only in crates, while others (typically buckets of something) are found only in barrels. If you try to search but get the message "Nothing interesting here," there is no point in searching that container again. If you get the message "No quest items here," however, a second search may well result in your finding the quest item.

Port RoyalEdit

The Gordon Greer part of the Black Pearl quest requires you to find six chickens in storage containers. The sidewalks inside the town have plenty of crates with chickens. The second set of six chickens, however, are not in storage containers. To get the second set of six, you have to sink Navy ships.
